About Phoon Chi Ho’s comedian function

 

Phoon Chi Ho has built a reputation as one of the country’s top comedy performers, much sought after for corporate events. He is also an actor, a commercial producer and a scriptwriter.

One of the pioneers of Kuala Lumpur’s underground comedy scene, he is best known as the 1st-Runner Up in Astro’s Gelak Gempak 2021, Malaysia’s premier stand-up comedy competition in Bahasa Malaysia, and for being one part of Douglas Lim’s Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians, and has shared the stage with comedy greats like Dara O’ Briain (by coincidence), Ed Byrne (also by coincidence), Harith Iskander and Afdlin Shauki, just to name a few.

Also on TV, he has appeared on Astro Warna’s Cakap Melayu Lah, Komediri (2 seasons), Sedapnya Mulut!, Seminggu Sekali as guest, and was one of the first Asian comedians to be curated by Comedy Central Asia on Stand Up, Asia! On Gelak Gempak 2021, Chi Ho is also the first, and currently, the only, perfect score holder in the quarter-finals of the competition.

On the silver screen, he bagged a supporting roles on Mamat Khalid’s Lari Hantu… Lari! and as the main ensemble in Dato Eizlan Yusof’s Hanya Namamu Laila.

As a scriptwriter, his TV show credits include Small Mission Enterprise 
(3 seasons), Oh My English!, Club Mickey Mouse, Kopitiam 2.0, My Ofis, Take Ctrl, and most recently, Belon Angkasa.
